My Space?

As a blogger I am always looking for the latest and greatest forms of social media to promote my blog and reach new readers.   As a middle aged woman there are sites I don't understand and  I have no idea what they even do.   Why after all, do I need Snapchat?  I had it.  It bored me.  I deleted it.  What is VK? I still can't figure out why I need Tumbler or how to use it.  Pheed is something, but I am not sure what.

This week I added Stumble Upon to my social media profile and I must admit I am still learning the best ways to use this.  I like how it gives you stuff to read based on your interests and I have found a couple of tweet worthy stories to share but I don't know how it is suppose to help me grow my blog.

I also started researching the latest and greatest social media sites.   Imagine my surprise when I read that MySpace has grown almost 600% in the last year.

MySpace, the same site I haven't been on in what?  8 years?  The place I have been away from so long I forgot what email and what password I actually used to sign up.   So I headed over to check it out and imagine my surprise when I got there.

Myspace is sharp, modern, and way more interesting to use than Facebook.  You can play music, you can share photos and you can update status.  More than that, if actually gives you an option to share the same post on Twitter or Facebook.   I was shocked.  Why do people not know this?  This isn't Google+, which let's face it, I still haven't figured out the purpose of other than to share my blog.  This is fun.   This has potential.  Are you one it?  I need friends because nobody I know has a MySpace account anymore so click my button and friend me! (I even added it to my page).

Now, I haven't had a change to play with it but you can bet the next time my husband is out of town and I have a free hour, I am going to make my page amazing because I actually think if people knew how cool it was their Facebook would become...well, MySpace.   So go over and check it out.  You can thank me later.  No really....you can.

So, tell me what  you favorite non-traditional (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram) social media sites are.  Is there anything out there just screaming to you, 'people need to use me'?

  1. Omg really? I was on MySpace 2000 years ago (around 2006). Didn't know it's changed! Oh and snapchat is weird. And tumblr I think is just for hipsters lol. I don't really do any social media because it's so time consuming (the blogs enough) and there's usually so much drama on them. Some dude comments on a pic of me and my husbands like who is that and why is he telling you that you're hot? Not a convo I want to have lol. It's like everyone's iq drops a few notches on Facebook!
    Happy Friday!!

    1. Your hubby and mine could be friends. I swear I get a lecture about how Facebook is going to be the downfall of society at least once a week. It is full of drama but it is the easiest way for me to kind of keep touch with people in other states so necessary evil.

I am still laughing about your blog on social media. It came up on my bloglovin feed and I just died! Happy Friday!

  3. Diaspora could use some more people. You have a lot more control there than on facebook, and it's free from ads. I gave up on MySpace because of all the spam, teenage nonsense, and the fact that I couldn't be everywhere. It's surprising that it's grown so much, after being declared dead a few years ago.

    1. I am going to have to check it out. I really don't know that I need any more social media but I was surprised how nice MS is.

  4. I don't really like social media in general because of how much work it is. But it is very cool to know that Myspace is back. I have almost forgotten about it. I'll have to check it out.

    1. It is a lot of work! Luckily I have met some amazing people on Twitter, including my husband so I can't say I hate it but it does get exhausting!

  5. I confess to being as much of a social media avoider as I can get away with. But I love that you're keeping on top of things, and look forward to your evaluations.

  6. I wish I knew more about Stumble upon and Snapchat. I keep hearing about them but have not done the research. I think Twitter is still my favorite.

    1. I am with you! Twitter is my favorite, even more than Facebook because Twitter doesn't come with the 'Friend Drama' LOL. Stumble Upon, I am just figuring out and Snapchat, I tried. If I want to send photos, that is what Instagram is for and if I need to send photos that delete in 3 or 4 seconds, they aren't photos I need to send. :)
