Blog Update: Mobile Monday

It was a busy and rain filled weekend. The temperature dropped and we needed the rain but selfishly I was hoping for some dry days.

Because of the damp ground I was forced to ride my new toy on concrete trails around the parks on Friday.

Here I am in all my nasty glory.

This is the turtle family I saw while biking Friday. Cute, huh?

Saturday I took the bike out on a real trail. That isn't it.

Khrystal went with me. Here she is trying to smile.

Saturday night we had tickets for Brad Paisley.

Here we are before the rain. That is Khrystal, me and Rachel.

Here we are after the drizzle started.

And here is the downpour.

They let us come down into the covered seats. The concert was at Gexa which is an outdoor venue.

Rachel and I trying to stay cute right before the concert was cancelled.

The roof had leaks right over the stage. Not good. Hopefully the concert is not rescheduled during the playoffs. I have other plans!

I spent Sunday cleaning after I had a dream that a friend showed up unexpectedly and my house was a mess. I also watched some Rangers baseball. Ries spent it sleeping. This is how this dog always sleeps.

Happy Monday!

Blog Update: It's Ok Thursday

Linking up with Amber: Brunch with Amber and Neely: A Complete Waste fo Makeup again for It's Ok Thursday!

It's Ok:

*To have political opinions and not share them with the masses on social media.
I see everyone sharing their opinions on Twitter and Facebook and this just confuses me. First, because if I don't agree I have to stop myself from arguing. Second, because I can't for the life of me figure out what they hope to accomplish. Nobody is going to change an opinion based on a Tweet from Joe in San Marcos, right? It isn't that I don't care about the world. I care too much. I also have been around just long enough to know that what I feel is right isn't what everyone does and my opinions and politics have changes a little over the years. (I am not the raging liberal I was at the University of Texas but I am far from being a conservative either.) I just want this election year to be over so we can get back to talking about really important stuff like how to get baseball and softball back into the Olympics! :)

*To overuse the Exclamation Mark!
I am probably the worst offender. One is never enough for me. I know that drives some people nuts. I suspect for some it was a short drive anyway.

*To be highly competative.
I admit it. I am. I don't like losing. It doesn't matter at what. Baseball, Football, Scrabble, Monoploy, Love, Life, Words with Friends. I just don't like losing. I try really hard not to be a sore loser on those (rare?) occassions when I do lose. (The exception is weight. I want to be a huge loser here!)

*To be silly excited that my bike should be ready either today or tomorrow.
I said the other day I feel like a kid at Christmas. This is true. I spent way too much money on this bike and I will be eating noodles soon but who cares? Expect a post and pictures after I get a chance to ride it. I had to miss the DORBA training class last week for a number of reasons but there should be another the second week in September and I plan on being there. I also signed up for a 8-week trails Fall Program that Wheel Women (Part of DORBA) is having. I am super excited about this because you meet at the local trails and go around with people who actually know them so you won't get lost. That would never happen to me, of course.
Or maybe it would! <-----Click here if you missed my post about my first attempt at Northshore!)

*To get frustrated with men.
This is a big topic but here is my problem. Yes, like any female I enjoy a compliment about looking nice or being attractive. Like any female, I like a little attention from men, especially if it is someone I like or care about or want to get to know more. What I don't like is being objectified or treated like a place to hang a coat. (That was the nicest way I could say it.) I don't like when married men tell me I am eye candy, rub my back, or hit on me. What am I suppose to do with that? More over, why is it always married men that want me? I am not the prettiest girl in the world. I am not the thinnest girl in the world. I am definately not the girl who intentionally gets involved with a married man. I have too much Catholic girl guilt. It would make me crazy.

*To be super excited that my softball team number is 32!!
For those who don't know, that is Josh Hamilton's number!!!!! (Yes, this deserves many, many exclamation marks.)

*To be so ready for the Rangers to leave New York.
I love and believe in you guys and I know you will get it together by the time the playoffs happen. I just need you out of New York and that awful New Yankee Stadium where you go to die in the regular season.

*To really need to work on my spare room.
I have been trying to redo this room for months. Okay, truthfully, I haven't been trying. I want to do it and need to do it but working out and going to baseball games and finding 5 minutes a night to read always seem more important.

That's what's ok with me, what is ok with you?

Blog Update: What I'm Loving Wed.

Oh Hump Day how much do I love you? Hard to tell, really.

I received one of these curling irons for my birthday and it is awesome. I have a hard time messing up my hair with this. I would post a picture but I'm looking a little hard today thanks to my allergies. My hair looks great, however!

I don't think there is anything truly political about domestic violence. It is wrong. Men should not hit women. Women should not hit men. Nobody should beat kids or animals. Period. I don't care what was said. I don't care what happened. I don't care if the one person isn't a good person. No hitting anything but baseballs, golf balls, a punching bag or the gym.

I love that my Rangers options for post season are securred and my ticket rep has confirmed receipt. I'm going back to the playoffs with my team and we are going to see a lot of this. In fact, we will see one more dog pile this year. An extra. The big one. The one that will make me cry like a little girl and kiss whoever is unlucky enough to be near me! I hope.

Can you feel it? It is almost college football season. We are counting down in days now. I love my Fighting Irish and my Longhorns and I am ready to yell and scream for the two teams I adore.

As always I love my friends. They keep me sane when work is bad, baseball sucks and dumb boys are dumb.

What are you loving?

Laura

Tuesday Blog Update Top 10 Tuesday: The Random Insanity That Is

This is the Random Insanity that is my music. I like doing a random shuffle on my phone to see what songs come up. It shows completely how psycho my music "taste" is. Maybe it shows how crazy I am, who knows. So here it is, my 10 shuffles for Tuesday. You may feel free to judge me if you must.

1.
Jason Mraz "Lucky"
I really like this song. It sort of represents what I would love to find in a relationship. The song is fun and funky and who doesn't want a best friend to love? I think I could do without the seperation part of the song but you know, if you are lucky enough to be in love in every way, I guess a little space is good.

2. Aerosmith "Dream On"

I love Aerosmith. Everytime I look in the mirror all the lines on my face are getting clearer too. I make every effort to not live in the past because it is too easy to get stuck there but I will sing with them anytime. (Just hope you aren't in the car with me when I do because I can't sing!)

3.
Garth Brooks "Calling Baton Rouge"

I don't know if I told you before but if there was no Garth, I would probably have never listened to country music. Probably the biggest surprise is that only one GB song managed to show up in a random scan of 10.

4.
John Mayer "Half Of My Heart"

Who hasn't felt like they were stuck in a relationship where they couldn't stop loving someone? It sucks. No, really. Especially if the other person just doesn't deserve how you feel. Story of my life.

5.
Rascal Flatts "Bless the Broken Road"

This song makes me cry, every time. I think it is because I always feel like nobody travels quite as broken a road as I do. I'm sure everyone feels that way, sometimes. If the broken road leads somewhere in the end, it will be worth it. This is where my faith comes in because God, and only God truly knows how weak I am.

6.
Madonna "Crazy For You"

This song was my favorite growing up. I thought this is what love was supposed to be like. Ah, youth. I still think this song will make me smile at times that no other will. I want to get up and dance to this song. I can't because my co-workers would laugh (I am at lunch and they may see).

7.
Blake Shelton "I'll Just Hold On"

Here is the other half of the hell of dating. Falling for someone who is only playing with you. Tell me about it, Blake.

8.
Adele "Make You Feel My Love"

She is so hauting in the way she sings everything but this song in particular. This song really, truly expresses how painful it is to be the one who thinks it is right when the other person just can't decide. No matter how much you tell yourself it is the other person's loss and no matter how much you know that is true, there is a sadness that this song captures about being in that situation. Sing it girl and tell him how it is cause it is his loss!

9.
Alan Jackson "That's What I'd Be Without You"

There is something about country music that just knows how to talk to a woman about love. I think if I could find a man that loves me this way, I would never cry again. Well, that probably isn't true but it is a nice thought.

10.
Carrie Underwood "Before He Cheats"

I am really not a big Carrie Underwood fan but this song is probably my biggest fear. Loving a man who's car I have to go destroy. Okay, not really because I wouldn't do that. But, I probably would want to, if he cheated on me.

Okay, well there is the craziness that is my music. Actually it gets a lot crazier because you got lucky and nothing super old came up. There is probably some Sinatra and I know there are tons of Beatles songs in there. (No the Beatles are not over rated!)

Happy Tuesday! Go Rangers!!!!!

PS: I can't get the links to work. Sorry.
