Mobile Monday Plus a Funny Story! Blog Weekend Update

No biking this weekend.  BOO!!! It was super busy at least until Sunday, however.
Here is the weekend in a nutshell!

Friday afternoon instead of a pedicure I went with Rachel to buy a car.  Well, Rachel bought  it, I was just there to look mean and act tough. *Something like that!

This is her new car.  Isn't it pretty?  When you turn it on, it says "Hello" on the dash and when you turn it off it says "Goodbye".
So adorable!

Later that night we went to meet friends at Sherlocks in Arlington.  This is us on the way out the door.

I like playing with Snapbucket.  I actually prefer it to Instagram about 99% of the time.

Khrystal, Me and Rachel.

Chance was with us.  (I am still struggling with the new haircut and it is driving me nuts.  It never looks right!)

Rachel was shaking it without Luke Bryan.

Later we went to Mac's Tavern. James Holland who writes a Rangers blog for Shut Down Innings serenaded Rachel, Khrystal and myself.  There is a video of this which is just awesome but you all will have to suffer with just a photos.  The song was "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and I have been singing it all weekend!

Saturday was the Stars game.  See how my hair actually looks cute before I walk outside?

Then we make it to the DART Rail to go downtown and I look like crapola!

Thanks to Chance, my seats for the game were totally awesome!  Chance, Khyrstal and I watched from this position all night.  It was great fun even if the Stars lost.

Hockey really does a good job of putting on a show.  I love seeing the fun!

Chance was giving me a hard time later on and told me to smile and be happy...so I sent him a photo showing him...I was happy!

Sunday I decided I wanted to cook....Spaghetti Squash.  So I tried two recipes.  One is a "Mac" and Cheese which is really Squash and Cheese.  The other is a no noodle ground turkey and veggie lasagna.

They both turned out awesome.  I won't use as much cheese next time though.

Here is a funny little moutain bike story to end my blog.  I have become sort of the office go to person for bike riding advice.  (With my months of experience I am apparently the wise sage of Mountain Biking?)  The Human Resource Manager came to talk to me about biking a few months ago.  I gave him the same advice a friend of mine who bikes gave me.  Go to a bike shop to buy a good, entry level bike.  Expect to pay at least $300-$500 and know that it is worth every penny.  Well, he came to my office and sat down this morning to tell me he went out to Corinth Park to ride this weekend. He turned his head and there is a big gash on it.  He apparently ran into a tree coming around a turn and ruined his bike.  He admitted that he was riding the $99 bike he bought at Walmart years ago and that he just wanted to try it out to see before he decided if it was for him.  He also admitted that this bike had a fixed suspension.  It is really hard to ride a mountain bike trail without at least front suspension.   The funny thing is, the smile on his face.  Even having run into a tree (he wasn't wearing a helmet either....NEVER don't wear a helmet people!!) and suffering a mild head injury, he said he had a great time.  He felt awesome after and he had so much fun.  I told him that soon he would be like the rest of us addicts.  Missing it when we have to go days without.

Happy Monday!!

Laura

Fitness Friday

Linking up with Noel today for her FIRST Fitness Friday!!!

If you follow me, you know I have been doing some version of Fitness Friday on a random basis in the past.
When Noel asked me to join her blog hop I thought this was a perfect way to make me be more accountable.

Y'all know the last couple of weeks that I have been struggling a little or a lot with getting rest.  That is slowly improving.  I also have good and bad days on the Eat Right part.  I am geting activity, especially on the weekends but I am 2 days shy of getting 'enough'.  In other words, I need to focus on fitness and focus on being kind to myself.

This is the exact truth!  I have had several bad days in the last few weeks but I have also had a lot of great days.  It is just a matter of becoming more focused on myself and taking care of me.  It will come.  I know I am not perfect and I am allowing myself a few minutes.  Minutes, not hours or days to just have some fun.  Not too much and not too extreme. Extreme makes you make poor decisions and not be accountable.  I don't want to wake up one morning and find myself in a postion I can't get out of because I made one bad choice.

I posted pictures a couple times in the past but for the new folks, I will do it one more time.  The first picture is me at my brother's wedding at 27.  The second picture is me after making it to work this morning, at 42.

I still have a little ways to go but I am actually good with where I am.  If I never get smaller than a size 14 for the rest of my life, I will be the healthiest 14 I can be.  That's a long way from a 26 and while I would love to be a 10...8...I will be okay learing to accept me.  Because, really....it is now all about having fun.

That doesn't mean accepting less or telling myself I can't.  I already have made huge strides and I will continue to force myself out of my box.  That is what Mountain Biking is all about.  Proving to myself, I can do anything.  That is what the indoor rock climbing I signed up for last week is for.  I am afraid of heights so I am going to climb and fall off walls.  Winning!

My opinion of fitness has changed over the years.  It has gone from being skinny to being healthy both physically and mentally.  My struggles with eating and bulimia are always going to be part of who I am but they don't have to define my very existence.  I am more than the size on my dress or the weight on my scale and I am just now starting to appreciate that person.  .

Respect yourself...

Maybe it is the new haircut.  Maybe it is surrounding myself with people who tell me how beautiful I am on the inside and the out.  Maybe it is realizing that I deserve to be loved by someone who respects me and treats me right. All of that has made me so much stronger and happier than I have been in a long time. Respecting myself and loving me has been my biggest struggle. So I am focusing on mental fitness and physical fitness in 2013. I am done putting pressure on myself to conform to anyone else's definition of me. I define me.

Happy Friday!  My fitness today may include Mountain Biking if the weather gets a little better if not, it will include a Pedicure and some much needed "Friend time" at a sports bar because having "Friend Time" is important!  All my love and best wishes!

Enjoy the RIDE!!!

Laura

Blog Update: It's Ok Thursday!

Linking up with Amber  and Neely for It's OK Thursday!

-To plan your guest list for your talk show (you don't have) and it be filled with hotties.

-To plan to go to bed early but spend the night texting friends, searching Pinterest, and harassing Siri.

-To ask Siri over and over to tell you a story until she finally does. Siri can be stubborn but she doesn't have red hair so I won. It was worth the wait. (Even if I did have to look up ELIZA to figure out who 'she' was.)

-To realize you are old enough to have mothered the girls your 29 year old friends dates.

-To keep planning on cleaning out the fridge and keep forgetting. I am pretty sure there is stuff in there from 2005.

-To eat too many cookies and have pizza for dinner. Sometimes it just is what it is.

-To wake up tired. I don't know how to sleep well anymore without medication.

-To realize you have had your children's name picked out for 20 years and you have no children.

-To think you may not be too old to have kids but you might be too selfish. I'm not sure I want to give up my weekends at the trail, summers at the Ballpark, and time spent with friends.

-To know even as I typed the last paragraph I would give it all up in a heartbeat to have a little girl.

-To know you want a daughter not a son. Girls are sweet and cuddly and boys are well, little men.

-To eat peanut butter out of a jar all the time.  I don't know what it is about peanut butter but I love it.

-To really need to plan a vacation somewhere this year that is somewhere I want to go and not just somewhere that I have to go.

-To need a haircut and a pedicure so bad that you actually know why nobody wants to date you right now.  I am a hot mess.  At lease I am hot.  (Hair is getting cut tonight and pedi's are in the plan for this weekend.

-To really wish I could find this option on my iPhone!

-To have purchased a personalized, insulated, dish carrier even though I never plan on ever hosting another tailgate again.  This could come in handy, right?

-To already have a "To-Do" list so long for the weekend that you need a weekend to get over the weekend.

-To think that besides hanging out with friends and doing laundry half that list is probably going to be on next weekend's "To-Do" list too.

-To really love spending time with your friends because you have the coolest friends. On the planet earth!

-To know that I have the cutest dogs in the world.  Your dogs may be awesome but mine, are cuter and so annoyingly funny it is adorable. (I am sure I am just a little bias.)

-To be taping Katie Couric today even though you didn't know Katie Couric had a talk show until yesterday.

-To have a good feeling about 2013!  I can't wait for warm days on the trail and sunny days at Rangers Ballpark this year.  I can't wait to get through a baseball game without being mad at someone.  This is going to be a great year full of exciting new adventures and I am completely ready to just have fun and ENJOY the RIDE!

-To be silly excited tonight is "Date Night with Ian" and I am getting my hair done just in time!  He is so stinking hot!

That's what is OK with me today.  What's ok with you?

Laura

Blog update: It's Hump Day!

Linking up with Jamie For What I'm Loving Wednesday!

It is time to find out what I am loving.  I have to tell you, after a couple weeks of hating life, I remembered who I was so this one is going to be sticky sweet.  No I am not going to bust out into "Pour Some Sugar on Me" although I have done that at least once this week.

-Love this ad!  Thinking this is one cute kitten!

-How strong I feel! I realized that what I thought I felt, I didn't and guess what?  I am so much happier now!  Sometimes it isn't what you feel that screws you up, it is what you want.  I was so busy trying to make a square peg fit into a round hole that I wasn't paying attention to the fact that there are round pegs out there that will work better.

-Listening to Rachel talk to my dogs like they understand everything and try to reason with them. It is so cute.  One day Sadie is going to look at her and say "But I like giving you kisses!"

-It is only 20 sleeps until pitchers and catchers report and....

-I love that life and baseball are the same. No matter what kind of curveball life throws you, in the end you just try find your pitch and get home to your friends and family! Baseball is the best sport.

-Spaghetti squash! It is just so dang yummy, good for you, and low in calories.  Did I mention that it is yummy?

-That God loves me enough to tell me "No, I have something better."  I trust God, it is Laura that I sometimes question and between a text conversation with my buddy, Chance this week and going with friends to a singles service at church last night, I realized that sometimes "Not now, Trust Me" is the best gift ever.

-How happy I am today and how I am actually finally finding me! It has taken a long, long time. I hope I like me. I want to personally take a moment to thank Rachel, Chance, and Khrystal for being there for me big time.  I have been a lot selfish and now I am going to be the friend you all deserve.

-This message I got from my friend Chance:
"...I wish so much that you could be happy, whatever form or shape that took.. You deserve it.. You have one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know."
This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me!  I hate my big heart that I wear on my sleeve but maybe it isn't a bad thing.  I just need to find a sleeve protector for it.

-My morning commute with Rachel!

Honestly, if you all could see how crazy Rachel and are together you would seriously think we are nuts, or you would give us our own reality show because we be funny girls!

-That I can be comfy-sports slob girl at work and nobody cares. Man I really need a haircut!

Please notice, I have Dirk over my heart.

-That I got through an entire blog this week without mentioning Ryan Gosling.  Oh, shoot!.

Laura
