(I know, I am bending to the black and white trend but I am trying to simplify my blog design and this is what happened....Plus, the chalk board theme is a favorite of mine since I used that for my wedding invitations and as part of my wedding theme.   So you will have to forgive me!)

What I'm loving

Sharing my weekend with you! 

Saturday morning I headed to East Texas to meet up with hubs and friends. This is our land.  It has been raining for most of the last 2 months so our ponds are very full.  I have never actually seen them this full! 

We went out there to work, mostly cutting grass and spraying bug and weed killer but in the process I managed to snap some amazing photos showing why I love this place. 

Plus, I managed to help rescue two dogs who had lost their owners.  I felt pretty good about that especially since one of the dogs was injured. 

This is pond number two.  Isn't this place amazing?  I kind of want to build a home out there when we retire. 

When we got home we were hot, tired and ready for the pool. This is from our backyard.  I can't tell you where I hid all that gold at the end of those rainbows but it really was pretty seeing the two side by side. 

Sunday Hubs and I headed to the ballpark to watch some baseball, see some friends, and for the kiddo and myself, struggle not feeling well.  Luckily, I was feeling better by Monday but as you know, kiddo has been sick all week. 

So my goofy hubs is always making faces when I take pictures with him.  I decided to turn the table and make one too.  

Also it was Elvis Andrus Garden Gnome day.  A little disturbing and I don't think we have taken them out the box yet....but we have them. 

Also I have been eating gluten free for the last what is it?  Three weeks and I found the most amazing gluten free pizza in my freezer section.   Freschetta makes this pizza and it may actually be my favorite in a box pizza ever. 

Also on my loving list this week:

-I have lost 8 pounds in the last week.  Yay me!  

-I am looking forward to the kiddo's b-day on Friday and the craziness of having her friends stay over. 

-I am excited to make her b-day cake and hopefully make her smile. 

-Our garden is producing tomatoes, squash, zucchini and cucumbers!  It is so nice to be able to go to your own back yard and find food.   

-My now 22 chicks are happy.  (I am still sad about the 23rd but even my hubs ex said we did good only losing 1) 

-My blog redesign in honor of having my own domain.   There was nothing wrong with the old blog and this one probably will get tweeked more but gosh, I love playing with it.  I get bored easily. 

Pinning:

I am going to skip it this week because honestly I don't think I have pinned much that isn't on my secret boards or gluten free cooking.

Mobile Monday and Weekend Update:Fishing and Farming, March Madness and The Walking Dead

Farming:

Friday night we planted tomato and pepper plants in our garden!  My husband was sweet enough to remember I don't like green peppers so he bought red and yellow pepper plants.  I am so excited.   I actually love the red and yellow.  I know most people think they taste the same.  They don't.   Green actually make my physically sick.   We also planted Jalapeno peppers because it is Texas y'all!

Sunday we planted 6 knockout rose bushes which I am so excited about.  I left all my old roses at the house I sold last August and I think the new owner has torn them all out.  This almost killed me because I had some very special varieties there.  Anyway, moving on, I found some knockouts and planted them but I still want to get a few other bushes that are not the knockout variety but have specific colors because there are a few I just love.   

Also, after planting 2 peach trees and 2 pear trees and getting ready to plant 2 pecans (we are debating where for those) we decided we had room for one more fruit tree in the front and since I feel like 2 of the above are more than enough, I decided to go plum.  Husband wants a fig too but I can't find one and we have 1.2 acres so I am pretty sure we can find a spot.  :)

Have I mentioned that in a few years I am going to need to learn to can?  Seriously, either that or I am going to have to give a lot of fruit parties!

Fishing:

The lake was beautiful!

Saturday morning we woke up around 3am (that was the dogs fault) and by 4:45 we were on our way to the lake.   I made a mess of breakfast tacos to eat all day because we planned to fish the day away.

Now, to be fair, I am not much of a fisherwoman, in fact, I like crappie fishing not much at all.  Jigging isn't really my thing.  I like casting my line and waiting for my fish to find my bait not constantly, every 15 seconds moving my line and dropping it down into a hole.  My arms hurt after a day of jigging but hubby loves it and he is good to me so I try to be good back. :)

We had a slow day but believe it or not, these 14 males (yep, all males) yielded a bunch of fish for our fish fry.   I caught one crappie and one big mouth bass.   Gotta admit, the bass was the  most fun thing ever. They fight like crazy but dang they are fun to catch.  We don't keep them though.

After we got home because a day on the lake wasn't enough work, hubs decided to work on the garden a little more and then we watched Notre Dame-Kentucky.   Now, if you are new, you don't know but my birth family and I are big time Notre Dame fans,   I mean, live, die, and bleed blue and gold.  In fact, Notre Dame plays Texas in the first game of the college football season in 2015 and even though I went to Texas and am a Longhorn, I always cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame when they go head to head.   Only time I ever do that but it is in my blood.  Anyway, back to Saturday, I have never been more proud to be a Notre Dame fan.  They were not suppose to play with Kentucky and they nearly beat them.  They were amazing actually.   That aside, I went into the game thinking if Notre Dame didn't win, I would pull for Kentucky and the undefeated season.   2.3 seconds of listening to their total idiot of a head coach and his arrogant, obnoxious, and supreme lack of anything resembling sportsmanship later and I can't wait for someone to take him down.  

Meanwhile, Sunday night the Notre Dame women advanced to the final four.   Yay Lady Irish!!!

The Walking Dead:

I am going to try really hard not to spoil anything for anyone who didn't watch last night.  Let me just say this, My husband has a hard time staying up for the show on Sunday night and usually falls asleep next to me while I watch either in bed or on the couch.  Last night was no different except for two things, the season finale was 90 minutes and I woke him up at least twice screaming at the TV in fear/horror!  That episode was so intense and I am going to watch it again, maybe tonight because I need to understand everything and I may have to watch it a third time because that is how much there was there.   So much going on and I was just wishing there was 5 more minutes when the end finally happened.   Oh. My. Gawd!!!

Thankfully, in a couple of weeks I will have a few things to occupy my thoughts on Sunday night, Rangers baseball, Game of Thrones, and endless furniture projects to finish!  Otherwise, it would be a very long summer.  Oh. My. Gawd, The Walking DEAD!!!!   Oh and the new Walking Dead spin off.  I am so excited about that too! 

Mobile Monday: Weekend Wrap Up

Friday:




Rachel's got jokes! She was telling me what a bad influence I am.




Trish and some friends and I met up at Joe T Garcia's. I have lived in Texas since I was a kid but this was my first time. It is kind of a Ft. Worth icon.




They have pretty amazing margaritas.




And it ended up Rangers 7! Half price pizza is a win...but winning is better.
Saturday




Was a little windy.




We met up with some awesome Rangers fans for a pre-game Tailgate




We grilled burgers and dogs and played games. (We may have had some adult beverages too.)
















My friend Khrystal made some amazing homemade salsa.




I was so busy trying to take the perfect photo I started walking backwards and tripped over the curb, falling into a cooler and hitting my head. It was kind of like biking only who knew that I needed my helmet to take pictures?




There were so many people that I got to meet in person for the first time.




James Holland from Shut Down Inning was there. He didn't sing to us this time.




I got to hang out with Eric before and during the game.




Eric came to keep Khrystal and me company. He is super sweet and very funny.




At one point Eric found himself surrounded by the Scooby Gang! Here with Monica, Rachel and me.




Here is the game in a snapshot. I got to hang with my buddy Erick who is in law school in Houston. Mr. "I'm not an attorney yet" somehow was too busy waiting for Rachel to show up and too busy playing games and I totally forgot to get a photo with him. I am going to blame it on the brain damage from the fall.




Burgers and beer..that works!
Chance and my little buddy Camden were there and they stopped by in the middle of the game to say "Hi!" I was too busy playing chase with Cam to get photos. I always thought I wanted a little girl but Cam makes me think a little boy would be awesome too.




Oh, did I mention we won? I like Texas!
I realized I am a total Texas girl now. There is little left of my Indiana home. I know this because my teeth start to chatter at 68 degrees. It took me hours to get warm Saturday night.
This is not my boomstick but I had to get a picture.




Sunday was quiet. I needed quiet after all the excitement and adult beverages. A little coffee, baseball and some snuggles and quiet. A Rangers sweep!




All in all this was an epic weekend full of fun, baseball, adult beverages, sun and some awesome old and new friends. What I really needed this weekend was my friends and a ton of hugs and that is exactly what I got!! Lots of hugs from all these amazing people who shared my weekend!
