Fear the Walking Dead Friday

A couple things about this show, first is that I DVR it because it is on at the same time as Game of Thrones and I have more time invested in that show.  Second is that I am disappointed that we are already coming up to the halfway point in the 8 show season.  It's hard for me to remember the characters names because we only see them for 8 shows a year. That being said, this show deserves a try.

The show starts out in LA at the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse.  The first season took some adjustment because the audience knew more than the characters.   They are catching up quickly however.  LA burned after a military strike in a failed attempt to contain the outbreak at the end of last season and our little group set off on a boat toward San Diego, or did they?

The show follows Madison and her boyfriend Travis and their combined kids Nick, a addict, his sister Alicia and Travis' son Chris.   Along the way we picked up Daniel and his daughter Ofelia and the boat owner Victor Strand.   Strand is an elusive character who is hard and worn and refuses to let anyone on his boat except the band of brothers he has chosen.   Last week we leaned he is trying to return to his lover in Mexico and an apparent safe place behind walls and set far away from civilization.  Somehow, I doubt the place is as he remembers but again, we know more than the little group, still.

So far the group has figured out that you have to cause a head injury to stop the walkers who they don't call walkers, by the way.  Also, Nick figured out that if you cover yourself in the blood of the dead you can move freely among them.

The group is going back and forth from west coast town to west coast town on the high seas and they are experiencing a level of danger that is new and different from anything Rick and the Scooby gang experienced on the original show.

What I like about this show:

The zombies are still new and not so slow although they are a lot slower than people and it seems to me like a slow jog would still get you well away from them quickly.

The characters are experiencing things and learning and we are learning about what happened while Rick was sleeping beauty.

The characters are all adult aged.  The youngest main character are Chris and Alicia and they are in high school.  Where Carl aged dramatically compared to Judith who remains, much to my annoyance, still a toddler, in the 2-3 years that have passed on The Walking Dead, the age progression of these kids won't be noticed as the show progresses.

Things I still want to know or that drive me crazy:

Where is Tobias?  He was my favorite character from season one and much like Morgan, he has just disappeared.  He was a high school student in the school Maddie worked in and he was the only character completely aware and prepared for what was about to happen.

The characters seem completely oblivious to the danger around them.  In week two they were on the beach collecting medicine and clothing from a plane crash. Instead of just taking a small bag that contained various medicine, Nick started shifting through it.  Really?  It was a very small carry on bag.   Just grab it and go.   Also, they sent a small dingy to shore with something like 4 people to collect supplies.   How many supplies can you fit on a small dingy when you have it full of people?  This became especially annoying when Chris spent the entire time on land in a portion of the wrecked plane killing walkers and a live man who begged him to put him out of his misery then dealing with the guilt.  Deal with the guilt later, get a move on.   Of course, walkers show up and they all make a mad dash for the dingy.

The latest turn of events is that the ship has been taken over by a band of, well, basically pirates.  Alicia made the mistake of befriending one of the pirates on the ship radio and now we are experiencing our first bad guys of the show.   So far I am not totally impressed but remember, these bad guys haven't had 2-3 years to learn how to be psycho yet.

Overall, I am hoping for a few things from this show, first that they don't follow a comic book script so closely like they do on the original show.  Second, that these characters grow and develop at a natural rate, based on their experience, and finally, that Tobias shows back up soon and we don't have to wait 3-5 seasons to see what happened to him,  because that kid is just awesome.

D is for Dead as in The Walking Dead Season Finale

Remember where we left off?  Carol is missing.  Morgan is looking for her.  Rick has gone back to Alexandria to rally the troops.  Maggie is having some mystery pregnancy illness.  Daryl, Glenn, Michonne and Rosita have been captured by the Saviors and Daryl was shot.

D is for dead, as in the Walking Dead season finale.   D could also be for Dumb or Desperate of even dang annoying.
We start out with Morgan walking through a field looking for Carol.   The first sign this episode is going to bite is the sign he comes across reminding him that he is alive. Anything so obviously telling the audience that people are alive surely means someone is going to die.  Next he runs into a horse with a saddle and has a talk telling the horse he is alive, which is nice but makes me curious, how has this horse managed to survive the walkers when darn near every other domestic animal has gone missing.   Obviously this is the horse the guy Rick almost shot but didn't thanks to Morgan lost last week.   More on him later but it will likely be a thank God Rick didn't kill him moment to balance out the I wish Daryl had killed Dwight moments of the last few weeks.

Cheer Cheer the gangs all here!
Next we head to Alexandria where Carl decides his too big for himself britches need to be aired out so he will be going with his father.   Enid wants to come, I want to talk some sense into both of them.  Stay home and shut up.   Remember what happened to the last troubled kid?  He got his entire family eaten.

Meanwhile Rick entrusts all of Alexandria to Father Gabriel because he is ready to lead the world as we know it now that he has taken a life.   Gabriel says not to worry he has it under control.  His first priority will be Judith's safety followed by defense of Alexandria.   He then asks Rick if he is sure that Rick trusts him to protect Alexandria.   Me:  Alexandria?  Dude the man is giving you his baby daughter to protect.  You haven't shown much of a track record in protecting anyone so far so I am thinking the real question needs to be are you capable of saving Judith?

That must have been one heck of a party!
Alright so Morgan finds Carol who doesn't want to be found.  Carol is bleeding and looks like she is about to pass out about every 2 seconds.  Still, she tells Morgan to shove off.  He doesn't and takes her inside to rest.

Road Block 1
Rick and the Scooby gang set off in the Mystery Machine, ah, RV to get Maggie some help.  It really sucks that Dwight just happened to kill the only doctor in town two episodes ago because if Denise were still around, we wouldn't be dealing with the gang on the run.

Apparently Negan and his troops are waiting, pretty much everywhere for Rick.  No matter where they go, they come across a bunch of Negan's henchmen, over and over, and over again.  Rick and one of the Saviors get into a deep discussion about never knowing which day is your last day on earth mixed in with an all you need is love talk.  My thoughts while I was watching this?  First this guy telling Rick about appreciating his folks is bad news.  Someone is going to die.  Why would Rick pick a fight with a group when he knows nothing at all about them?  Alexandria's resources are depleted and unless I am missing something, a ton of the residence have been killed in the last 6 months.  It seems by now that Rick would have, you know, done some research on Negan and the Saviors.  Maybe watched them and tried to figure out how many millions of them there are, exactly.   Eh, what do I know?  I am sure Rick has this covered.

Morgan has gone to town looking for what?  We don't know and when he comes back Carol is missing.  Hmm, since she said she wanted to be left alone and told Morgan to pound sand, it is a real shock that she would leave the moment he turns his back.  Anyway, Morgan sets out to find the missing and kind of crazy Carol.

Carol on the other hand is only half conscious and walking around town without any regard for her well being.  After nearly getting eaten by a walker with an elastic face she is attacked by the guy who survived the road block attack last week.   Okay, so savior number whatever has been shot (by Carol last week) and isn't much better off than Carol but he manages to overpower her and shoots her a couple times for good measure.   He starts to leave her in the street to die when Carol tells him that he can't just leave her, she isn't hurt enough to die.  She then explains that he is suppose to tell her to look at the flowers and pop her.  He is about to do just that when Morgan comes to the rescue.  After giving the guy a chance to walk away, Morgan kills him.

Just about that time, low and behold the guy with the missing horse from last week shows up and he has a friend and his friend has a horse.  I don't know who these people in armor suits are but I am going to call them the Knights because well they are wearing some sort of protective gear/suit and they ride horses so who else would they be?  Anyway, the Knights offer Morgan and Carol sanctuary and they ride off into the sunset.  Well, kind of  anyway, I start saying to myself, Self, these Knight people may be able to help Rick and the Scooby gang if only they have the power and the numbers to help them overthrow Negan.

Road Block 457
Meanwhile the Scooby gang is still trying to find a way around Negan and all the road blocks.  There was a wall of walkers and a burning wall of logs and still the gang traveled on, round and round in circles, trying to get Maggie to a doctor, any doctor, a witch doctor would do.  Maggie is looking hard up and is burning up with fever.  Let's see, Maggie has the pregnancy flu?  Maggie and Rick have a conversation about how all they have ever been able to rely on is each other and that they are going to be fine because they always have been.  I am expecting him to add in "We happy few.  We band of brothers" any moment but he just keeps going on about their happy little group and yes, we all know someone is going to die.

So Rick and Eugene have a pow-wow and Eugene decides to take off in the RV alone while the Scooby gang carries Daphne Maggie to Hill Top.  Anyone else watch this and think, The Saviors know when you are sleeping, they know if your awake, they know if you are walking in the woods so get the heck out for goodness sake?

Well, our gang didn't pick up on the obvious, there is no way to Hill Top theme and they all got captures.  Good news, they were reunited, first with Eugene then with Glenn, Daryl, Michonne, and Rosita.

Eventually everyone is brought together, kneeling down so they can meet the acquaintance of King Arthur and Excalibur circa 2016.
Rick needs a bath and some serious vacation time

Daryl was shot last week but he is alive, or is he?
When Negan finally steps out from door number 1 , he starts to tell the gang about how upset he was that they killed his men, then he sent men to kill them and they killed those men too.  Well, darn the luck.  Next he puts two and two together and figures out that Rick and Carl are father and son.  It must be because they look so nothing alike.
Negan
Negan has a little conversation where he calls Carl a future serial killer.  (I guess it takes one to know one?)  Negan tells everyone if they move during the next part, he will poke out Carl's eye and feed it to Rick.   Meanwhile he tries to pick who he is going to introduce in that very special way to Lucille.
Lucille
Finally, fate decides and we see the bat and hear some muffled screaming and it seems clear that Negan killed the cameraman by the blood splattered all over the lens.  This throwing blood at the camera thing is getting old.  That is two weeks in a row.  Come up with something better.
 Fade to black.

I want to hate Negan but anyone who gives Carl crap can't be all that bad, can he?

I want to like this episode but I seriously don't understand the cliffhanger.  Wouldn't it have been just as miserable to know who Negan apparently killed and spent all summer saying Daryl of Glenn or Maggie or whoever isn't really dead, right?  I mean, I know Game of Thrones did this with John Snow and we all know somehow John Snow is coming back but why not let us cry ove the loss and worry all summer long.  Now I kind of just don't care.

My guess, and it is only that, is that Eugene was the one killed.  I am thinking that only because he had a really sad look on his face and he gave Rick the recipe for bullets.  Still, this is suppose to be a shocking event and if they want shock they kill...well, I would kill Maggie.  I mean there can't be anything more shocking than a pregnant woman getting beaten to death with a bat.

Hubs has been saying he is done with this show for months and I am starting to feel like that is what everyone should be saying.  This cliffhanger was a Jump the Shark moment and I just don't care.

The Walking Dead recap Episode 15: What the heck?

The forbidden fruit....apples anyone?
So many emotions were involved in Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead.  Once again, the show made me scream by the end of the episode.  This is getting way too familiar and with the coming of Negan next week, it isn't going to get any easier.

We started out with a flash forward scene and then it gets a lot a little slow and involves mostly moments where everyone is hitting the sheets which is never a good sign.  It is always the calm before the storm.   Rick and Michonne and Maggie and Glenn were doing all the nasty deeds but you got a little bit of the after glow of Abraham and Sasha too.
Carol has nice handwritting
Next up there was a ton going on and it all got a little confusing.   Daryl is angry....again.  When is he not angry?   So being the genius that he is, he takes off alone to go after Dwight and the Saviors.  Glenn, Rosita, and Michonne, who is now done sharing the forbidden fruit with Rick, take off after him.  Of course, I am talking about the apple they shared in bed.  An aside here, I have never eaten an apple with my husband.  If I did, I would probably cute it in two and not pass it back and forth with him.
Glenn should have stayed in the shower with Maggie

Going out on your own is not smart!
Rick finds out that Carol has run away when Tobias takes a mid morning walk over to Rick's place to show him the letter.   Seriously, it took him forever to get to Rick's place. How big is Alexandria, exactly?  Rick and Morgan go after her.

Meanwhile she has run into a group of Saviors on the highway to hell who promptly shoot out her tires.  Carol gets out of the car and starts begging them not to make her do this.  We have a 'Can't we all just get along moment' that quickly turns to a 'Hell no, we can't get along cause we are going to kill you' moment.  Carol, of course, blows everyone away....well almost everyone.  There is one Savior left.
He Morgan, you remember that protein bar?
Rick and Morgan come across what is left of Carol's shoot out and start to track her via piles of blood.  They don't know that they are being followed by the surviving Savior, or are they? He seems to follow them but that part is kind of left hanging.   Morgan takes this opportunity to come clean with Rick about the jail cell, the Wolf that he let live who later saved Denise who then saves Carl.   Did anyone else think to themselves, 'Denise wouldn't have almost gotten mauled by that pack of walkers if the Wolf hadn't kidnapped her and taken her out into that mess in the first place, Morgan.  Your reasoning here is a little light on facts.'   Morgan comes back to his point which is all lives are precious.   I feel like Morgan is the chairman of the "All Lives Matter" movement and while I agree with him in principal, this is a show, about the zombie apocalypse.  If I start seeing "Walker Lives Matter" T-shirts next season on the walking dead, I may have to switch channels.  Unrelated but valid, what I wouldn't give for a Walker Donald Trump to show up. I bet his hair is still the same.  It is alive! It is ALIVE!
Wait until he finds out Carol is missing too
Glenn, Michonne, and Rosita catch up with Daryl who is mad as hell, still. Mad Daryl is never a good thing.  He loses all sense of reality. Tunnel vision anyone?  He is going to kill Dwight and he refuses to listen to reason.  By now I am thinking; Just what we need. Daryl going off half cocked to get a revenge kill for Denise and Glenn and Michonne out there tracking him.  Don't these people know that Negan carries that damn bat he named Lucille and you do not want to meet either of them, anywhere.  By the way, anytime people start yelling at each other in the woods, or stop to chit chat, I just want to smack them.   The walkers can hear you and we have no evidence the Saviors are deaf.  Why can't Daryl, for once, think about the fact he is putting himself plus 3 other people at risk to carry out his revenge.  Why didn't Glenn find out Carol was missing first before they went after Daryl.   Carol in jeopardy would have snapped Daryl out of it but no, we have Tobias taking his own sweet time going to Rick.   I guess he was worried about waking Rick up before he got to eat his apple.
Let's have a party in the woods and invite the saviors.
So while Glenn is wasting his time trying to get Daryl to come home, back in Terminus  Alexandria, Maggie decides now is a good time to get a "Mom-Do".   I thought most people waited until the baby was born before they get a Mom-Do.   I am saying this, tweeting it actually, when Maggie goes into what appears to be a miscarriage.  I am so sorry, Maggie.  Wear your hair however you want just don't lose the baby.
Glenn, please find a dumpster quick!
Once again our band of out of their senses misfits in the woods split up.   Morgan and Rick split up but not before Rick confesses to Morgan that Michonne did take his last protein bar.  Thank GOD Rick got that off his chest.  It must have been eating him alive!

So if you are keeping score at home, We have Carol running around alone.  Rick running around alone after throwing his girl under the bus. Morgan running around alone, and Daryl and Rosita splitting up form Michonne and Glen.

Rick makes it back to Alexandria to warn them that the Saviors may be on the way and they need to prepare.  At this point I think there are like 5 people left to guard Alexandria, including one eyed Carl and can't walk Judith,  because everyone else is running around the countryside like lunatics.

Yet again, people stop to talk, in the woods, totally oblivious to their surroundings.  Glenn and Michonne can't seem to find a better place to have a heart to heart so they clearly stop in the middle of the woods to Yell talk to each other.  You guessed it, the Saviors find them complete with Hunger Games whistling, just to confuse things.  I just want to know WHY Glen?  WHY Michonne?   You all can beat the living pulp out of walkers but you can't make it back home before you have a conversation?  WHY?

Never fear however because out there somewhere is Daryl and Rosita, not to mention Carol and Morgan.

But wait, there is more.   Daryl and Rosita sneak up on the Saviors who have Glenn and Michonne tied up.  By sneak, I mean they probably come in like a heard of wild buffalo because from the look on Glenn's face and the rapid shake of his head, you know this is a trap.  I know this is a trap.  Everyone but Daryl and Rosita know it is a trap.....right up until the moment they get captured and Daryl seems to get shot.  Insert my scream here.

Now, seriously people, I screamed and yet my husband managed to sleep straight through.  How does he do that?  If someone breaks into my house, is he going to sleep through my screaming?  These things worry me.  If he can sleep through my The Walking Dead screams not to mention the night I woke up with Charlie horse pain and screamed for like 55  5 minutes,  there is little hope for me if the Saviors come to take me away.

Roll previews:
The previews end with a close up of Lucille.  Negan and Lucille will be key to next weeks season finale and to be honest, I am scared to watch.  I know Negan is going to beat the life out of someone with Lucille.  I have seen rumors ranging from Rick or Daryl to Glenn will die. I know what happens in the comic book and I don't want to see anyone get their head bashed in much less any of these idiot much beloved characters who all have something major to lose.

More thoughts on the show:

It was Easter and there was no Jesus in this episode.  Somehow, that just seems wrong.

Glenn really needs to be in time out.  He left his pregnant wife to go chase after Daryl, who was determined to get himself killed tracking Dwight plus Glen has almost died so many times this season, I can't even count that high.   There are no dumpsters to hide under in the woods.

Does anyone else get the distinct feeling that that jail cell that Morgan built will eventually play a big role in this show?  I mean, they have brought that thing up in nearly every episode for the last half of the season.

Morgan and Carol out there wandering around half cocked not to mention, apparently injured, leave me feeling very uneasy.   I am not ready to lose Morgan and Carol is obviously having a nervous breakdown.

I love Morgan but I can't help thinking his "All life is precious" theme is just a little out of place given the apocalyptic times they live in.  I am not saying random killing is right for the people left, I am just saying if the other people left are trying to actually kill you, putting them all in one small holding cell to rehabilitate may not be the direction to go.  Especially when they want to bash your head in.

I want to hate the Saviors but I can't help but think back to the episode 2 weeks ago where we see that in reality, they are not that different from Rick and the Scooby gang.   They are just trying to survive in this crazy world where there are no rules except 'look out for number one'.   With that in mind, I know already that Negan and Rick are not that much alike.  Rick doesn't kill for the sake of a lesson or to send a message and he certainly doesn't carry a barbed wire covered pistol.  Does anyone else ask themselves how Negan manages to not hit himself in the leg repeatedly with Lucille?  I mean, maybe I am just too clumsy but a barbed wire covered anything is not going to work for me. I even run over the stuff with a riding lawn mower and let me tell you, that is a real B to get untangled.    I think the Saviors are what our band of brothers and sisters would be if they were just a little more crazy. Their brand of punishment, losing a finger for stealing, certainly sends a message.

I start my A-Z challenge on Friday but I will figure out how to get a season wrap up blog in next week after I have a moment to mourn the imminent deaths.  Also, I plan on continuing this series with Fear the Walking Dead and possibly The Game of Thrones.  Keep in mind that I also scream a lot during the Game of Thrones and if Jon Snow isn't alive and well by 15 minutes into the season opener, I might be in cardiac arrest.

Recap: The Walking Dead Episode 14

My goal here is not to spoil the show if you haven't seen it yet which is why I wait until Friday to post my recap.  If you haven't fit it in yet this week, watch and get back with me so we can discuss!

The show starts with Rick finding Morgan building the jail.   Rick, in his typical man of few words moment, gives Morgan a tilted head "why?" and Morgan explains that he wanted to give Rick options for "the next time".   Ah Morgan, you don't know Rick very well, when push comes to shove he lets his gun do the talking.  By the way, Morgan, when Rick tilts his head, he is ready to shoot.  Watch your back Brah.

Next we cut to a sad Carol reflecting on her sudden cigarette habit.  I know it is hard Carol but walk away from the cancer stick. We can work on it together.  You have enough problems without coughing up a lung in the middle of battle!

Carol sought out Daryl to discuss nothing specific, he got his bike back and that somehow led to a discussion of how he should have killed the Saviors he encountered in the woods.  Carol didn't agree.   Is she getting soft?  Is she losing her mind?  Is she wishing she were just baking cookies?   I know I am. If Carol doesn't end up hitting the sheets with Daryl pretty soon, I am going to have to assume he is gay because....seriously!

Even Daryl is clueless about what Carol is talking about.

I mean look at him.  He is all like "Woman what the heck is wrong with you?  Snap out of it, we have people and walkers to kill! Go bake some damn cookies and calm down!"   I recognize the look.  My husband often gives me the same look when I am all female crazy.   He often tells me to go cook something because we have people to kill ah, a garden to plant, chicken coops to clean out, whatever project du jour we have happening...but I digress.

The missions:

Meanwhile Abraham and Eugene head out on foot looking for, I am not sure what.  What they find is a closed up metal works place.  Eugene promptly tells Abraham that all he needs is lead and he can make bullets.  Their supply is low, the folks at Hilltop have nothing, they need bullets.

At this point I look over at hunter hubs and say: "Oh hunter man with all the killing things knowledge, forgive me my ignorance but how is Eugene going to make bullets without gun powder.  Even with lead, would you not need gun powder?"   He informs me that yes, bullets do require gun powder.  I say: "I thought so.  Miranda Lambert sings a song called Gun Powder and Lead after all."  I certainly look to Miranda for guidance on these issues because really, who knows more about guns than Miranda?  She sings about them a lot.  Nobody does scorned woman better, actually.  It's got to be why Blake still talks to her. He is afraid.   Anyhow, this issue bothered me for an entire 2 minutes.  Seriously, where is this gun powder coming from?  Do they have a stash but no lead?

This bothered me so much I almost missed the Abraham shitism of the day. Can I say Shit here?  Oh, wait it is my blog, so I guess I can.

Eugene and Abraham have a bro fight after Abraham saved  helped Eugene kill a walker with a lead head.  No, really.   Eugene tells Abraham that he doesn't need him anymore.  He was just the muscle.  Abraham tells Eugene that he has as much chance surviving without him as he does picking up a turd by the clean end.  Oh Abraham, you have such colorful poop analogies.  First the dingle berry now the turd.  Abraham leaves Eugene.  Anyone else watch this thinking, this is so not good?

Meanwhile, Rosita, our resident doctor Denise, who is trying to prove something to herself, and Daryl head out looking for drugs.  Right now, I need drugs to forget the whole turd comment and to take my mind off the gun powder but I digress, again.

While Denise tries to teach Daryl how to drive a stick shift, I think to myself, the guy grew up in the south in an obviously redneck family, with likely not a lot of money.  He was  hunting, fishing, and carrying a crossbow that he can load and fire faster than humanly possible.  How did he never have an old beat up stick shift pickup to drive?   I can't drive one but I am not a redneck.   Anyway, in the middle of their mission they come across a downed tree blocking the road.   Daryl and Rosita get out to investigate and based on the decaying walker under the tree they conclude it was a natural accident and not a set up so they take off on foot to find the apothecary.   They come to a railroad crossing and Rosita takes off down the tracks while Daryl and Denise go the long way because Daryl isn't taking the tracks.  It really isn't like Daryl to throw a fit over something like this so I am immediately clued in that these tracks are going to be bad news ahead.  Remember the last time our rowdy gang of misfits were walking tracks they ended up at Terminus.

Everyone makes it to town okay and they proceed to break in and steal, hijack,  liberate a pharmacy full of medicine in their backpacks.    On the way back to Alexandria the trio decides to take the tracks back because it is shorter.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Along the way Denise manages to locate a soda for her girlfriend and kill her first walker.  It is a proud moment for me and I am thinking to myself as Denise starts lecturing Daryl and Rosita about how brave they are and how they inspire her, aw, Denise is growing up from her sheltered Alexandria roots.  I then think to myself, she is talking way too loudly and this is bad.  Just about that time, poor Denise finds Daryl's crossbow which he lost to Saviors several episodes back.  Well, she really just found an arrow, in her eye.

Showdown time:

As Daryl and Rosita gun up and prepare to fight the bastards Saviors who just killed their only doctor, we see that Eugene has managed to get his butt captured.   A little cross talk happens between Daryl and Dwight, the Savior he let live in the woods,  who stole his crossbow and bike.   Yeah, this guy is dead.  DEAD I tell ya.   I would let him live out his days as a walker just because.  You do not mess with Daryl.   Dwight explains that he wasn't aiming for Denise, he was trying to hit Daryl but the crossbow is shooting a little high.  Daryl never has a problem hitting his target, Dwight.  I am just warning you here.   You are a dead man walking, buddy.

About that time Eugene sees Abraham hiding behind some oil barrels.  In his infinite wisdom he tells the Saviors that his buddy is about to kill them.   I am smart enough to know at this point, Eugene knows that Abraham has moved on.   A shootout ensues.  Daryl is reunited with his crossbow. The Saviors, well some die, some run, including that asshat Dwight. Daryl wants to go after them but  Eugene is shot.  I am really concerned at this point.  Denise is dead.  She who managed to save Carl from a gunshot wound to the eye, is laying on those damn railroad tracks with Daryl's arrow in her eye, oh the irony here, Walking Dead writers, I see what you did there.   As the gang hauls Eugene back home we see one final shot of Denise laying dead on those stupid railroad tracks.

Back at Alexandria:

Eugene was just grazed and thankfully they have the necessary medicine to prevent infection thanks to dear, departed Denise.  Next we see Daryl burying Denise.  I am thinking to myself, out loud, when did they go back and get her body?   Why would they risk it?  The Saviors knew where they killed her, surely.   There were only 3 of them and they were carrying Eugene out so who carried Denise?  Rosita?

Abraham turns up on Sasha's doorstep and promptly says in his so colorful way something like, 'I am here to take you woman, let me in.'  She does.

Carol leaves Tobias a dear Daryl letter, um Dear Tobias letter where she explains that she is a killer and doesn't want to be one anymore so she is leaving by herself and not to look for her.  Yeah, because Daryl and Rick are going to let THAT happen.

Morgan is practicing with his big stick and he sees all the guns being loaded up and the group getting ready for war.

Role Credits.

What the hey Carol?  You can't leave Daryl!  You can't leave Alexandria.  Who is going to bake?

My ill feelings about the season finale which is now just one regular episode away became an overwhelming sickness after this episode.  I screamed when Denise took the shot to the eye.  My husband laughed at me.  For once, he watched it Sunday and I fell asleep.  That is usually the reverse.  He knew what was coming while I sat there in blissful ignorance.

Two episodes left before and Negan shows up in the last one.

This can't be headed anywhere good: TWD

Jesus and Rick Source

If you have been keeping up with The Walking Dead, congratulations.  It has been a wild ride and I am really afraid it is only going to get nastier as the last 3 shows of the season wind down and the horrible Negan finally shows up with his bat.  Batman anyone?

Alexandria
So far this season we have watched as the Alexandriaites freed a pit full of walkers.  Really, who didn't see that being a huge mistake?  I still have to ask myself, why didn't they just find some way of burning those damn walkers in the beginning?  Oh, wait, because if they did that, we would have missed about 6 episodes of the walkers trying to eat everyone in Alexandria and almost managing it.  No, we have to wait until Daryl sets a pond on fire before we can all breath again, seriously?   When the commotion was over and the bodies were counted, the walls had to be rebuilt.

Morgan
Morgan showed back up and became the moral conscious of a show sadly lacking that role since Herschel passed.  (Can we please have a moment for Herschel who is still missed?)  Let's be honest, when Teddy Roosevelt said "Speak softly and carry a big stick" he was talking about Zen Master Morgan.  We even got an entire episode of how Morgan became sane again complete with an adorable Tabitha the goat who was mourned by legions of fans.

The Wolves, Glenn, and Maggie:
The Wolves came, got their bottoms kicked and died.  We almost lost Glenn, who was under a trash dumpster for weeks.  We cried, we protested, we mourned, we tweeted about saving Glenn and Glenn lived, but for how long?  Poor Glenn has nearly died so many times this season that it is almost a forgone conclusion he isn't long for this world which is extra sad because Maggie is preggo and has finally decided (as of last week) that she just can't take chances anymore.   A big "Duh! Maggie"! I may or may not have said those words when she told Glenn she was done last week.  I really don't know what she was actually thinking.  Let's imagine a 9 month pregnant Maggie slashing walkers and shooting rouge humans.   I really never thought this was a good idea Maggie.   Think of baby Glenn Junior.

The Dearly Departed:
We lost Owen, Jessie, Ron, and Sam, and seriously Sam, you couldn't shut the heck up for like 20 minutes and be a man-baby?   Judith is better at staying quiet and that kid is still not walking.  (WHY TWD?  Why isn't Judith walking yet?)  Rick killed some dude named Ethan who probably deserved it but we only knew him about 17 seconds before his demise,  and poor Deanna died and  her Walker self later met a merciful end by her own son.  Shades of Lori and Carl come to mind, anyone?

Carl:
Carl was shot in the head and survived.  I mean this kid took a gun to  the face and he walked away.  Judith obviously is Shane's kid because that little bundle of cute hasn't aged in 3 season and have I mentioned nobody ever puts her down to WALK!  But Carl? He is no doubt Rick's boy. He can survive a point blank shot to the eye with just a really adorable, sure to make all the teen human girls swoon, patch that makes him a total bad ass now.  Anyone seeing his attitude starting to show?  I predict he is about to hit the terrible teens with full force.

Carol
Carol, who let's face it, went a little cray-cray two seasons back when she started killing humans off, channeled her inner Betty Crocker when she moved to Alexandria and has managed to impress everyone with her beet cookie making ability...or something.  She is now starting to question herself and what she does.   Chips in the armor are starting to show.  Is this just further character development or is Morgan starting to reach her?

Sex and tobacco:
People started getting a little lot frisky.   Rick didn't waste any time hitting the sheets with Michonne after watching Jessie get ravaged by hungry walkers.  Let's face it though, that moment where Jesus comes out and runs into one-eyed Carl (how is he already walking...and Judith isn't?) and tells Carl he was waiting on his "Mom and Dad" to get dressed followed by the very awkward interaction between Rick and Carl over the whole, you are sleeping with Michonne moment....this is not a conversation teens really need to have with their father.  Carol is kissing someone who isn't Daryl.  I mean the entire time Carol is bringing Tobin pink beet and acorn cookies and calling him a jerk, you could just feel the tension.  I like Tobin.  He is sweet but he isn't Daryl.  Le Sigh.  And, exactly when did every character on this show start smoking?  Did they forget to show us the Marlborough truck rescue scene?

Abraham:
Abraham became a total ass in about 35 seconds flat.  I swear to you if hubby turns to me and says one day that the reason he is with me is because he thought I was the last woman on earth and since he knows now, I am not, he is moving out.  Well, he will be moving out on a stretcher folks.

Jesus and Hilltop:
And now the group has been to the Hilltop, met Jesus; who appears to be an American but is yet another Brit playing an American, because American actors are apparently really hard to find,  and declared war on the Survivors who they have little knowledge of, but based on the few we have come into contact with, are pretty much leeches and bullies.  In other words, the teens of our own world grown up and living in the world of TWD.

Daryl, sweet, sexy Daryl:
Daryl lost his bike and his crossbow.   There was a touching reunion with his bike 2 weeks ago but the crossbow is nowhere to be seen.   He and Carol are shared a tender moment at the end of last weeks episode, but Tobin is in his way. well Tobin and the fact that Daryl just does NOTHING to encourage Carol.

Negan, the batman:
Negan is going to show up in the last episode and what we know is there is going to be some major blood shed.   I swear, I am going to cry for anyone killed except Abraham.  Abraham did the ginger race wrong and mister 'why are dingle berries brown' can bite his own dingle berry and nobody is going to care.

QUESTIONS

Burning question remains:
*Will Daryl ever be reunited with his crossbow?
*Will Rick ever find out that Morgan is building a jail?
*Will Glenn survive?
*Will Maggie, in a fit of raging pregnancy hormones, tell Abraham he is an ass, because Maggie would.
*Will anyone ever teach Judith to walk?  Please someone put that baby down.
*Will Rick remember more than once every 6 episodes he even has a daughter?
*Will Jesus figure out that Rick and Michonne aren't husband and wife and start preaching the gospel to them?
*Will Carl....oh heck, with him, anything is possible, he is super Carl.
*Will Carol ever share these beet and acorn cookie recipes and are they gluten free?
*Will all these budding romances make our heroes weak?

Number one burning questions:

*Will this show ever make sense?  Like, I know logic and zombie TV shows may be asking for a lot but come on, every little group calls the walkers something else and NOBODY has thought to call them Zombies?  WHY?
*Why doesn't it bother anyone, but me, that Carl has almost graduated high school but Judith is still a baby?
*Has anyone on TWD ever actually shot a crossbow?  I have.  Let's just say there is no way Daryl, just no way.
and finally,
*Where are all the American actors anyway?  Did they, in fact, become walkers?  Did they just not want to eat Carol's cookies?   Are they secretly protesting the show because Tabitha was eaten?  Do we really just like the British more than ourselves?
(Disclaimer:  I adore every actor from GB on the show and bully to them for pulling off the accent!)

Alright people, what do you think of this season?  I will try to wrap up the last bit of season six when I am over the horror of whatever is about to happen.  I have seen so many interviews with cast members talking about how terrible it is that I am afraid to watch it.

If you love this blog please share it, pin it, stumble it, or tweet.  Just go crazy!

Thank you for reading and as always,
Enjoy the ride!

The Walking Dead: Questions I need answered

I think we have all had a rather trying weekend with current events so I was thinking, we need something to really divert our attention and take our worries away.   I mean, with everything going on in the world, who wants to be serious right now? With that in mind, I found my mind fixated on The Walking Dead.  There are some things that really bug me about this show and I need answers.  Okay aside from the most obvious question,  there are other questions I need answered.   In no particular order here we go.

7 Pups That Would Make Anyone Smile… ANYONE!!!

-What happened to all the dogs?
Let's face it,  most dogs I know are smarter than the people I know.   You can't tell me they won't sense the difference between a zombie and a living human.   Where are they?   They are too fast to have not survived.  Have you ever tried to chase a dog?  Come on.  Those zombies could not have outsmarted all of them.  They are slow and stupid.

-Why does Judith barely age but Carl has aged like crazy?
Did something happen in the zombie apocalypse that stunts baby growth?  Maybe Carl's growth has been sped up somehow? I need to understand.   Why is Carl a bearded wonder teen and Judith still not walking?

The Walking Dead season 5 episode 1 OMG!!!!!! Still crying over Daryl n Carol and Rick n Judith:

-How does Daryl reload that crossbow so fast?
Have you ever shot a crossbow because I have.  They simply are not easy to pull and load.  Seriously there is some massive pull required with a crossbow and Daryl shoots it off like he is shooting a regular bow.  This isn't the same bow that the Indians used people.  It is hard to pull and you have to aim it in a way that you don't catch your fingers by mistake.   I realize Daryl Dixon is a bad dude but really?

-Where are their clothes?
It's odd that they never really seem to carry a change of clothes and yet they always have them.  I get that they probably had a stock pile in Alexandria and at the prison but each character has a certain style.  Are they really that lucky to always run into a closet tailor made for them?   Yes, some of the characters had bags on the way to Terminus but they weren't exactly stuffed with a full wardrobe.  You have to assume that they carried what?  Something to sleep in?  Some food?  A bedroll maybe?
-When does the ammo run out?
I am assuming that they don't have an endless supply because you haven't seen them raiding a police station in a long time.  Eventually, they have to run out.  Is there a bullet maker in Alexandria who haven't met?  What about Daryl's arrows?  Is he carving his own now?

-Why can there only be one?
T-Dog, Tyreese, Bob, Noah,  Morgan,   This is one of the most annoying issues with this show.  I just don't get it.

HECK FRECKIN YEAH seriously stop killing the good ones!

-Why Glenn or Hershel or Dale, or Beth?

Count me as part of the group that accepts that Glenn is gone but why?  Glenn never hurt anyone that didn't deserve to be hurt.  Why is it that every character that doesn't have a serious moral flaw on this show, manages to die?  Hershel, Dale, and Beth are among the moral missing.  Are we to believe that in the end, the world will only be safe for the people who embrace their bad side as well as their good?   Lord knows that Rick and Carol will be safe but who is next?

Manic Monday Four days in photos: My redneck life!

I used to do a blog updated called Mobile Monday where I dumped a bunch of weekend photos in my blog and shared.  Well, my life is a little crazy right now with home, family, trying to get the house refinanced on a 15 year mortgage, work, work, work, and spending weekends doing man stuff so it is much more like a manic than a mobile.

Friday
These are the last of the babies.  We moved them outside a week ago and released them to the wilds of the backyard Sunday.

We have been getting between 9 and 12 eggs a day.  Our smallest older hens should be laying this month so we will have 19 layers.   They don't all lay every single day but we are sort of in egg heaven.  Yes those are green eggs, BTW.

I feel like I should admit that it was pouring rain, dark as sin, and country roads are very hard to drive in those conditions.  By the time the kid and I were packed and leaving for the land, we were also tired from a long day.  So, of course, I missed my turn to our land about 3 times and ended up an hour late getting there.   It was horrible.  Needless to say, there was nothing but sleep when I finally rolled in and unpacked.

Saturday

The kid and me in the deer stand snapping selfies of course!

View from my first deer stand of the day.

It was an early morning and I had no coffee!

This is the view from deer stand 2 at sunset.

I love this photo.  I am planning on printing a couple up to hang in the house.

Sunday

This is what I like to call my 'bring it on Isis' look.   It was cold Sunday morning but I went out anyway.

Mostly I took photos, read and slept in the stand.  It was so EARLY!

This is also one of my favorite photos.  Who says you can't get good pictures with an iPhone?

Monday
I told you a few weeks ago I am in love with Alex and Ani and I have been sporting them for weeks now!

Monday started off rough.  My new coffee pot isn't working after a week!  There was an accident.  I forgot my work laptop.  Still, I had my wedding boots on and I just don't care.  I love these things.  They are kind of big but I don't have heavy socks on today.  I need them!  Aren't they amazing?

Lest you think I have gone hunting crazy, I still haven't done anything but read in those stands.  Also, I am planning a Waco trip soon to check out Magnolia Silos and shop.   I am not completely lost to the redneck world.

By the way, who else was just annoyed with The Walking Dead last night.  Please just show us what happened to Glen already.   I am so over this hinting but not confirming things, thing.   Next week doesn't appear to be any big reveal either.

So, how was your weekend?  How is your Monday so far?
