Tailgate 1, Baseball Weekend

Saturday:

Saturday the Mister, my friend Janice and I headed to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, (yes I know that isn't the name technically, but I refuse to call it the other name) for Tailgate 1.   The tailgate was moved from our original location, reportedly due to a concert at Jerry World.   Now I am all for country music but I don't understand the Rangers giving away parking.   Anyway, we found a better location in Lot B and confused everyone at the A&M tailgate when we showed up with 2 giant pans of enchiladas only to realize we were at the wrong tailgate.  They were very upset, not that we left but that we took the enchiladas with us.
From Left top: Hubs, Ronnie, Hubs and Jan, Janie

Finally, we met up with our group,  a BUNCH of Twitter friends, most of whom I had never met in person.   Rangers Nation has some amazing Tweeples and it was so fun to get a chance to talk with people in person that you have been talking with online for years.
From L top: the Gingers, camo hat, Darren, Jan and hubs

It was camo hat give away night.   We all look look great in camo so it was great! This is my 2nd Camo hat give away so I feel very invisible right now.
General Lee, tailgate photos, Sam Houston, and more tailgating
I ran across the General Lee and Sam Houston in my tailgating fun night.  The lady that owned the car was nice enough to let us take as many pictures as we wanted.
Indians Vs Rangers
Oh and there was a game.   Unfortunately, our closer blew a save.  You could tell by the Tweets being sent out by the tailgate group that none of us had any faith in Neftali Feliz, for good reason.

Group shots I stole from Elle!

I didn't get any group shots so I stole borrowed this one from my buddy Elle.  Thanks darlin!

A big thanks to those who took time and organized this event.  It was great tailgate with just a amazing group of people, Look at all those beautiful faces.   Honestly, IF I tried to name all the great people I met, I am afraid I would forget someone and be forever shamed so a SHOUTOUT to the whole of Tailgate 1 for being just super and so much better in person, if that is possible, than on Twitter and to all those I met and am following now on Twitter because it is so much fun making new friends!

Did I mention the food was amazing? There was grilled chicken and pork, brisket, homemade salsa, so many great sweets from cookies to amazing cupcakes!  Oh and my venison enchiladas which went over very well, unless everyone was just being super nice. I swear I am going to post the recipe to the blog but somehow I never get pictures.   Okay, well I did take one...of the assembly line.  That's a lot of meat and cheese...and tortillas all of which were used.
Enchilada Production Friday

Sunday:

We decided to meet up with Kimberly, Travis (who we met Saturday) and Janice for a Frisco Rough Riders game.
Kiddo and hubs

Beautiful park

Jan, me and Kimberly with a zombie and a kiddo
I don't know why this is the closest thing we have to a picture of Kimberly...and my hubs is doing his version of Zombieland.  I really think he got confused.  It was Game of Thrones Sunday not The Walking Dead Sunday.   (Sunday is our favorite night on TV.  Actually, it is the only night we watch TV normally.   We have no shows except on Sunday.)

Josh Hamilton

It's hard to tell but this mismatched uniform belongs to Josh Hamilton who is doing his extended spring training now at Frisco. My guess is he will be called up by the end of the week so we wanted a chance to see him play close up.   If you look really hard you can tell he has on white pants not the off-white of the Rough Riders.

Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders
Need to give a big Kudos to the Frisco Rough Riders.   The organization is top notch.   The people are always so nice and we even met Teddy Roosevelt who was eating a hot dog but stopped for a picture with the kiddo.   (She has it on her phone).
Dr Pepper Park
And the ballpark is pretty perfect.   Every seat is close to the action and the tickets are so reasonable. They even had a "Dollar Hamburger Inning" and it was Dollar Ice Cream day.  We are actually thinking about getting a season ticket plan for Frisco and then adding Rangers tickets individually.   The Riders are only about 15-20 minutes from out house and the game is so enjoyable.
Josh Hamilton homecoming part 2

And you get a chance to see the rehabbing MLB players as well as the players who will be Rangers soon!  Joey Gallo who is an up and coming player and top prospect was playing 3rd last night.  It was amazing to get a chance to see him up close and personal.  He is huge....as in a very big dude!

The weekend was full of friends and baseball and we had a great time even if we did eat way too much and nothing healthy!

My Space?

As a blogger I am always looking for the latest and greatest forms of social media to promote my blog and reach new readers.   As a middle aged woman there are sites I don't understand and  I have no idea what they even do.   Why after all, do I need Snapchat?  I had it.  It bored me.  I deleted it.  What is VK? I still can't figure out why I need Tumbler or how to use it.  Pheed is something, but I am not sure what.

This week I added Stumble Upon to my social media profile and I must admit I am still learning the best ways to use this.  I like how it gives you stuff to read based on your interests and I have found a couple of tweet worthy stories to share but I don't know how it is suppose to help me grow my blog.

I also started researching the latest and greatest social media sites.   Imagine my surprise when I read that MySpace has grown almost 600% in the last year.

MySpace, the same site I haven't been on in what?  8 years?  The place I have been away from so long I forgot what email and what password I actually used to sign up.   So I headed over to check it out and imagine my surprise when I got there.

Myspace is sharp, modern, and way more interesting to use than Facebook.  You can play music, you can share photos and you can update status.  More than that, if actually gives you an option to share the same post on Twitter or Facebook.   I was shocked.  Why do people not know this?  This isn't Google+, which let's face it, I still haven't figured out the purpose of other than to share my blog.  This is fun.   This has potential.  Are you one it?  I need friends because nobody I know has a MySpace account anymore so click my button and friend me! (I even added it to my page).

Now, I haven't had a change to play with it but you can bet the next time my husband is out of town and I have a free hour, I am going to make my page amazing because I actually think if people knew how cool it was their Facebook would become...well, MySpace.   So go over and check it out.  You can thank me later.  No really....you can.

So, tell me what  you favorite non-traditional (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram) social media sites are.  Is there anything out there just screaming to you, 'people need to use me'?

This and That Thursday Sorry isn't always enough plus Shout out to Adoptive parents

This:
I have gotten away from being sorry. I just apologize and with time see if I have changed. Ozzie Mindfulness.com

Have you ever been driving down the road and suddenly someone pops into your head who you haven't thought about in years?   This happened to me yesterday.  I wasn't feeling well and I was driving home in the rain when I suddenly thought of a former friend who I haven't seen or spoken to in years.

so forgive and move on, say I'm sorry when you are responsible for hurt. The person may not be here tomorrow to right the wrong.

This person was more than a friend to me, she was a roommate for a time and we were like sisters. We spent tons of time over a couple of years hanging out, mostly at my house.   We use to watch ballgames together.  She was my go to sports buddy for a long time.

You let me go...sorry..your loss....don't expect me to be there anymore

But some things happened and we "Broke Up".   I don't know why I thought about her. I don't think I have given her a second thought in several years.   I don't wish her any ill will I just never wanted to talk to her once we had the disagreement.  The argument itself was not the problem, the problem was that the relationship was flawed and in the end, it would not have mattered to me if she had apologized (She never did), because the trust was lost.   This happens very easily with me.  Trust is easy for me to give but once you have lost it, you won't get it back.  I forgive, but I do not forget, ever.

That doesn't mean I can't or haven't.  My best friend and I broke up.   We laugh about it now.  We talk about how silly the argument was.   She was mad because I took her husband's side.  What was I thinking?   She hung up on me and didn't call back for 10 months.  When she did call, I was very reserved and I thought to myself, 'No way am I letting her back in my life.'  but I did.   I had to, she's my person.  We had years to look back on.  We had reasons to forgive and forget.  Now, those things don't matter.

That:

I found this article on Huffington Post yesterday and sent it to a friend who's children are adopted.  I was in utter awe of this story and it brought tears to my eyes.  I understand the wish, the desire to have a child and not be able to have one so I was really touched by this piece.

I have so much respect for people who open their hearts, lives and home to children who need them and give them the love they haven't had so far in life.   If you have adopted a child, good for you. You did what most of us don't, you cared for another, not of your blood but of your heart.

What I'm Loving and Have a Pinteresting Wednesday

Copy  the button and join in the fun!
I am going to try again to do this blog-hop on Wednesdays and see if anyone is interested in joining.  Even if you aren't I am going do it just because. :)  So, copy and past the button above if you want to join me or mark it down and join me next week.

I have so many fun things to show you from my time in our yard Tuesday that I just have to do a WILW post!

What I'm loving:

8 months ago today!
I married my best friend 8 months ago today and I can honestly say, it has been the best 8 months of my life.  Waking up with the person who may not always understand who you but loves  you anyway, is the best.  I am not going to be one of those bloggers who pretend everything is perfect because nobody has the perfect marriage but we are happy and we are a team.   Also, because I didn't marry until I was 44 I have decided 8 months with me is probably like 5 years with a normal woman.  I had to learn how to be married and share not only the responsibility I had all alone for the last 26 years, but also learn how to not have my way all the time.  That was hard for me.

The message my aunt sent me last night.  It was so sweet and I really appreciated and loved talking with her.

My puppies this morning were so sleepy!

The day we brought them home
Remember our chicks, above is what they looked like the day we got them.

Today
And the same chicks look like this today.  Yes, that is one of the little yellow peep chicks sitting on the perch.  They have feathers and they eat, sleep, and poop 24 hours a day!  It is amazing watching them grow.  They are just so big!

On the ride home

This morning

We also picked up 4 more last week and we are getting a couple more this week.  We are going to have 18-20 chicks when all is said and done and our neighbor is giving us a rooster.  :-)  We got the above chicks because all the ones we have already lay brown or beige eggs and I wanted some that lay blue or green eggs.  We moved a couple of the older chicks into this box but 4 of these chicks will lay blue or green eggs.  I had no idea there were so many colors of eggs before we started our "Chicken Ranch"

There's a yellow rose in Texas
I planted two yellow rose bushes.  It's Texas! We must have yellow roses.

Turnips

Our garden is yielding some wonderful stuff already.
Onions and Cayenne
Turnips, onions, and cayenne peppers!   (We picked the Cayenne green because our Jalapenos aren't ready yet but you can let it hang until it is red, it gets a little sweeter then.)

Blue Bird Eggs
And spring is definitely a time for renewal because even the birds are getting busy in our yard.  Okay so that's our bird house.

This is going to be pink and green because that's what the kid wants.
And THIS is my current DIY project.  My hubby made a chicken house and I painted it white very quickly before the rain storms of the last week.  Well, you know I am not stopping at boring white.  Just wait until I get my hands on paint!  See some of my inspirations from Pinterest.

So I thought, since I brought it up above, I would share with you egg colors.  Did you have any idea? These all come from chickens.

I am going to make a Chick-Inn sign for our coop.  I know it is silly but I love it.  I know it is a chicken coop and not a house but I want it to be cute.

LOL!  You would think chickens rule my life, it isn't true they just rule my blog lately.

So what am I going to do with all the turnips you may ask...
Turnips Instead of Potatoes! Same fiber, lower carbs. One cup of raw cubed white potatoes gives you around 22 grams of carbs and two grams of fiber. One cup of raw cubed turnip gives you only six grams of carbs and two grams of fiber. So, if you’re going for the lower-carb option, turnips are definitely your best bet.

Turnip mash!  Actually, wherever you use potatoes you can use turnips.  I am still learning and believe me I have an entire Pinterest board devoted to this!

Okay, that's my What I am loving and Have a Pinteresting Wednesday.   So, what do you love and pin?
