Friday Blog: Taking a Break?

Do you ever think you want something only to find out when you get it, having it wasn't really what you wanted?

I wanted options. I have always had options I just never realized it. I was so busy looking for the wrong things that when the right ones came along, I ignored them

Now, I can't make up my mind about what I really want. So, I have decided to just want nothing and see what happens. Maybe nothing will. Maybe something amazing will.

What I do have, what I always have is faith that God is in control. He leads and I follow. He points the direction and I walk. If that means going camping in November alone or if that means finding friends to go with, that is where I will be. Hopefully, it means a World Series Championship too....for the Texas Rangers because I want a parade!

Have a great weekend everyone.

I'm sorry this blog makes no sense. I understand it. That's all that matters on this one.

Happy Independence Day: The Blog

Happy Independence Day USA!!! Special thanks to everyone who has ever served.

I want to share a quick story today and let y'all get your grilling on. Some cultures believe that loved ones who have passed sometimes use animals to communicate with loved ones on earth. Usually birds. I have long believed that my father will send me a Cardinal to me just to remind me he loves me and he is proud of me and is watching out for me. Cardinals are the state bird of Indiana, my home state and where my dad is buried. They are not very plentiful in Texas. (Excluding post season baseball.) I have been struggling a lot lately with something and yesterday I had a moment of complete clarity about not only me needing to expect more and better for myself but remembering that I am both my mother and fathers daughter and that makes me an amazingly strong woman. Today as I was riding my bike through the parks, I saw not one but two Cardinals. This happened just minutes after I was nearly hit by a car. I realized, my dad was saying he loved me and was looking out for me and I was finally on the right path.

Note to Rangers fans, hate the team not the bird. It is an amazingly beautiful creature.

Happy 4th and God Bless the USA!

Tuesday's Blog: Baseball is Life

Sometimes I go to a very female place. The "what does this mean" place. For example someone told me the other night that I was beautiful and he liked that I was thick. Now, I heard fat. I had to have it explained to me that thick actually means sexy in this case. Who knew?

I am always trying to figure men out. Some men there is no explanation for, you know who you are. Most men are simple if they know what they want. Chocolate cake or chocolate chip cookies? Which are you? Some men want cookies, cake, and ice cream. Some men think that is what they want. It can drive a woman crazy.

Today, for the first time, a man explained men to me in a way I can actually understand, baseball. He said, "look your problem is, you are swinging for the fences. What happens when you try to hit a home run?" I said, "If you are Ian Kinsler, you pop up." He said, "and if you are Josh Hamilton, you strike out. Stop trying to hit a homer and take what the pitcher is giving you."

This made so much sense. I have the choice to swing or not. I have the choice to hit a single or strike out. I still have to step into the batters box and take a chance but I don't have to let every at bat decide my emotions or my life.

I can chose to continue worrying about "What this means" or I can just stop. I tend to be overly sensative. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. This isn't a good place for you to wear your heart because it gets banged around a lot and you risk it getting hit by a fastball.

Someone said to me, life is so much simpler when you stop caring. I truly believe this. I also believe that when you do you lose who you are and what you want. Everyone gets hurt. Everyone. You still have to swing. Sometimes when you do, you strike out, sometimes you hit a home run. Sometimes you walk. Sometimes the pitcher throws a curveball.

The truth is, everyone won't love me. Everyone won't like me. Some people may spend eternity with no idea what they think about me or worse, they may never know me at all. I know who I am. I am a good, loving, giving, usually pretty nice, baseball loving woman who also likes girlie stuff like high heels (Hush you), handbags, and pretty things. I am better than most and I am completely imperfect. I am also too sensitive and this causes me to over-react at times and pop-up. My friends love me despite this major character flaw. I love them too, the way Josh Hamilton loves Ian Kinsler.

Mobile Monday

This is going to be an abridged version because I was very bad on Friday and not only did I forget to take pictures but I was too busy being mean to friends or worrying them to even think of it. It was a bad day and that's all about Friday.

Saturday was all about DIRK!!! Well, an charity and a bunch of athletes.

This was the flag coming in for the Heroes game at Dr. Pepper Park in Frisco.

Sunday was about my rug rats. Well, my brothers anyway.

They are silly and I adore them. I could go on but long and short, they are little loves.

Hope y'all had a good weekend and are ready for some fireworks!!!

Laura
