It's Okay, that I'm Loving, What I am and Pinning what I do.

Confession time, I was going to do an "It's Okay" post today but I couldn't find my button so you are stuck with a what I'm loving/pinning because that's what I found and I that's okay. :)   I am just combining everything because that's how I roll.

What I'm loving:
Sadie checking on her chicks
Yep they are still there.
Sleepy heads
Ries checking on the chicks

My dogs woke me up at 3am this morning and I haven't been back to sleep, so right now I am loving my coffee.
Btw, the dogs woke me at 3am because they wanted to see the baby chicks.  Smh, talk about mama hens!

This hutch:
Decisions, Decisons
I got it in am auction and honestly didn't think I would end up the highest bid by a long shot.  Naturally, now o have to figure out what to do with it!

The British:
I am sure most people in Great Britian do not have Union Jack emblazoned 3 piece suits and most haven't been waiting for the birth of William and Kate's baby (hope it's a girl and they get Diana in there somewhere) outside the hospital for a week even though Kate is still at home and comfy.  I am sure most haven't made up songs for a girl/boy but the ones that have kept me laughing at 4am and made me say outloud "the British are funny and strange people" to which my husband grunted. ;-)

Parenting:
I occasionally write a tongue in cheek blog about being a step-monster but honestly I think being a step mom is the hardest thing I have ever done.  I could write a book on pre-teen drama, emotional collapses, and smart mouths and that's after 7 months of marriage but I realized the other day after a blow up, hers then mine, when I sent her to her room and she came out to apologize to me, she and I communicate well.  She opens up to me and even though I feel like she doesn't respect me, she actually does because she trusts me.   Now with pre-teens the emotional roller coaster runs in about a 48 hour cycle meaning there is a total and complete meltdown every 2 days but, I am super step monster and I am ready!

The 2nd 6 months of marriage:
I am not going to lie, the first 6 months of marriage were hard.  We went through a lot of changes in our life and neither my hubs nor I are the most easy going people in the world.  Truth be told we are both really stubborn so we spent a lot of time holding our respective ground the first few months.  The last couple of months we have seemingly learned each other's quirks and managed to stay off each other's last nerve.   In other words, I feel like we are working together now as a team more than ever.

Unicorn Spit

I am so in love with this package that the Unicorn Spit folks sent! How cute is it?  I can't wait to try this stuff out.  I just have to finish the current project which is almost done and then this box is in use. Oh, and wait until you see my current project.  My Facebook people probably figured out I totally adore the piece I am doing right now!

Have a Pinteresting Wed:

I feel like after the ups and downs of the last few weeks and all the rain, rain, rain, what I need is some inspiration!

Crafts:
I tell my hubby this a lot.  One of these days I am going to get around to making one of these signs!

It's Okay:

I'm going to throw an "it's okay" post in because that's what I really wanted to do today.

It's okay that social media randomly follows, unfollows, or re follows people without my consent.   Twitter will just randomly unfollow people from time to time.  This morning I noticed Bloglovin had re-followed at least one blog I haven't been following in well over a year.  I get to the point where I question myself briefly, "was I so sleep deprived or drunk (no) that I could randomly follow or unfollow someone?   I have been known to do really crazy stuff on Ambien with no memory.  Wait, I stopped taking Ambien a year ago because hubby hated how I would have no memory of entire conversations. Um, I don't think I followed or unfollowed these folks so it must be the crazy world of social media.

It's okay that it seems to rain all the time.  Our lake levels have risen 10 feet in 3 months.  Since they were over 12 feet low 3 months ago, that is a really good thing.

It's okay that my almost 12 year old kid came in last night and asked if she could take a stuffed animal to school with her.  She is in day two of standardized testing and she can't decide if she is a little kid or not.  So she told me she was picking the stuffed animal that was least baby like then asked me if I could guess which one she picked.  I said, "Your camo bear." Nailed it.

It's okay that watching sports just doesn't seem as important to me as it once did.  Honestly, work is stressful, my home life is full, and time is precious.  Right now I would rather listen to a Rangers game on the radio and paint than sit in front of the TV and veg.

It's okay that I had this post ready to go at 6am and I am still not posting it until lunch.  I got busy today and sometimes that happens.

It's Ok Thursday!

It's Ok Thursday! I know Amber and Neely don't actually do this link up anymore but every once in a while I need it and this week is one of those weeks and that's ok! So I dusted off the meme and I am being a rebel!

Here's what's ok with me this week:

-My allergies may make me look like I am crying constantly but short of a sinus transplant I can't possibly take any more medicine so I think my next option is a space suit. Houston, we have a problem. Mascara on my nose!

-I have so much to do this weekend and so little time but I know I am blessed and loved and I am focusing on that and not the pressure of getting things done, just this once.

-I got my concert tickets this week! Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, can I just call this the summer of eye candy?

-The Rangers seem intent on channeling my sleep energy and use that for a comeback, walk off win. That's my way of saying I keep falling asleep and missing all the 9th inning excitement.

-When I was a little girl, my grandmother use to make a lamb cake every Easter. (Jesus is the Lamb of God, get it?) My brother and I loved that lamb cake and looked forward to it every year. I tried for years to find a cake pan like that to make a cake at Easter and couldn't. Last month I was at a resale shop and they had the exact pan my grandmother used for $1.00! I grabbed it up and Saturday I am going to try making this cake. We will see how it goes but it brings a smile to my face and that's ok with me.

-Finally, it's ok with me that the best relationships are built on laughter. I have watched this week as a friend has gone through some hard times and laughter has helped. I realized that I can laugh with all the important people in my life and that is a blessing and that really is ok!

It's Ok Thursday

Linking up for It's Ok Thursday with Amber and Neely so let's see what's Ok today!

*It's ok that I checked my windows and doors last night after watching Criminal Minds. The episode which talked a lot about social media may have hit a little too close to home.

*It's ok that I can't believe it is only Thursday! I feel like I have had a week of Monday and I am so ready to spend some QT on the back of my bike for a long, long ride.

So speaking of.....

*it's ok that I have bruises I didn't know I had. The ones on my arms and elbows I knew about but the huge one on my leg shocked me. I don't know how I did it but I have fallen so many times in the last week I'm not surprised. I am really glad I haven't put my clipless system on the bike yet. I think I would be dead or something!

*It's ok that one of my co-workers saw me Wednesday and gasped saying "If you go to the grocery store with all those bruises people are going to send you to a battered women's shelter."  I laughed and told her I was going to get a shirt that says:
Nobody hits me,
I hit trees.
I <3 my BIKE!
*it's ok that I was just so exhausted Wednesday night that I made myself not workout. I felt terrible about it but I also knew I wanted to ride a lot this weekend and if I am going to complete a Th-M stretch I am going to have to listen when I am exhausted! Sucks but I guess I am human.

*it's ok that I have eaten this for lunch two days in a row:

Well, I haven't eaten all of that because that would be crazy but I have been on a Veggie and Hummus kick lately and I am really ok with that.

*it's ok that I promised a friend I would do my own special "March Madness" bracket Friday. I'm not going to tell you what but let's just say it's hot and has nothing to do with college hoops.

*it's ok to be happy. Really, truly happy. I don't know what happened but something just clicked and I realized that I have the power and that is very liberating.

*It's ok to be a little bit selfish for a change. It's time to say "I choose me".

*it's ok that friends say "so...you dating anybody new yet?" Um, I don't know. Am I?

*It's ok that I saw a picture of Garth Brooks (who I love) with George Strait (who I also love) and thought "who's the old chubby guy who looks like Garth Brooks?" I guess we are all older and maybe a little chubbier, Garth. Well, George isn't but I am not sure he is human.

That's it! Next time we chat it will be FRIDAY!!

Enjoy the ride!

Laura

It's Okay Thursday: Bikes, Bruises and Wine!

You can follow me on Bloglovin now! Simply Me the Way I see it

Linking up with Amber   and Neely for It's Ok Thursday so let's roll!
It's Ok:

----I wrote this under the influence of prescription pain medication. If you can understand this, I did ok.

----I rode Horseshoe for the first time since November and the first thing I did...was fall, hard. (The pain meds...hello?) The very first thing you face on that trail is a uphill rocky odd little obstacle that I have never cleared. I was so shocked that I nearly cleared it and I didn't realize there was a broken, exposed root and that root caught on my foot as I pedaled and pulled me in one direction while my bike fell in the other. Scratched my arm up, bruised my knee and tweaked my back but it was awesome!

----I'm a strange girl. I love my bike and baseball and I think falling is awesome as long as I don't really get hurt.

----I take pictures of myself on the trail smiling like an idiot!

----I sent a Facebook message after the papal election saying "Don't cry for me Argentina."

----That this made me laugh

----I love my church and I love the tradition but I actually got chills today when they announces a non-European, Jesuit priest as the new pope. It's huge!

----I am DVR'ing Charmed. I love that show!

----I painted this while I was watching Charmed tonight:

and I love this bike wine glass!

----This is why I rode Horseshoe. This and it is quieter than the trail across the lake.

----I cam home last night and there was a package on my doorstep.  This happens occassionally however for the 2nd time in a row I could not remember what I had ordered from MLB.Com. I am starting to think I have an issue. Nah, that can't be.

----I totally forgot everything else I wanted to write and the meds are making me foggy.
Happy Thursday!

Texas Rangers Tuesday: No worries Blog!

The Nolan Ryan talk has slowed down. The local media seems to agree now, Nolan will likely stay. Does this mean we can actually talk about the TEAM?

My friend Rachel had a time hop quote of David Murphy Monday that said: "What would Texas Rangers spring training be without some drama?" Murph said that 2 years ago after Chuck Greenberg's exit and Michael Young's mad round 3 or 4.

Do you know how I know the Rangers have actually made it? We have quarterback controversy. No, this isn't Danny White and Roger or Steve Pelluer and Troy or Tony Romo and... Tony Romo but we have drama. We have evolved from the "will the Rangers finish at .500?" days to the "the Rangers did WHAT?" we have today! No, it isn't just about the loss of Michael Young, Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli. No, it isn't about who will be the Opening Day starter. It will be Yu. No, it isn't about how well Gentry and Martin can fill some rather big and a little crazy shoes. This team has true drama. People are fighting to RUN it! Grown men who brought the first World Series to North Texas and a second the next year, are fighting for power! Nobody fights to run the Cowboys. Jerry had managed to screw that up all by himself. Nobody fights to run the Mavs. Mark has managed to go from an NBA championship two years ago too the cellar today. Yes, those teams are different sports and different situations but simply the fact that people have been fighting for the Texas Rangers since MLB put the club on the auction block in 2010 says it all.

Maybe now things will quiet down and we can focus on the good things we have seen so far. Maybe now we can talk about how positive Derek Holland's start for Team USA was Sunday. How he got himself out of a jam and kept the team in the game until they managed to score and win. Maybe now we can talk about how nice it is to know Yu has a real shot at being exactly what Jon Daniels and his scouts have thought and why he convinced Nolan Ryan to bid on this kid. Maybe now we can talk about why it is important to get Profar at bats even if they come in AAA. Maybe now we can turn our attention to hating Scott Boras for not getting Elvis an extension even though we all knew that wasn't likely. Whatever the next chapter in Rangers baseball brings us, isn't it nice to know that Rangers Nation has a real future? For those of us who lived through the days when the Rangers season ended before the All-Star break. For those of us who have pinched ourselves until we bruised the last three years making sure this wasn't all a dream. For those of us who still hurt at the words "Game Six" (I am really sorry I had to go there my friends) this team has so much positive that even a Nolan Ryan VS Jon Daniels fight couldn't dampen our excitement over the Texas Rangers season that starts up in about 19 days! We are living in a baseball town now and this is Rangers Country!!

"Dallas" Remembers JR:

If you saw JR's exit Monday (tears, so sad!) you may have recognized a few actual Dallas locals namely Jerry Jones who said that JR told Jerry he didn't care what he did in HIS town as long as the Cowboys won and Mark Cuban who said JR hated losing more than Mark does and when the Mavs won the NBA Championship JR sent Mark a note saying 'About time.' This was a nice touch if a little ironic given the amount of SUCK both teams are dealing with right now. JR would NOT be happy with either of these clubs now!

It's Ok Thursday Blog Update

Linking up with AmberNeely for It's OK Thursday so here is what's ok with me:

I had a terrible migraine all day Wednesday so I was trying to find help for them on Pinterest (because Pinterest is better than Web MD at this stuff, duh!) This was a suggestion. It looks good to me but I don't know where I am going to find the hot guy to rub ice on my head. Anyone have ideas?

-That I posted this to Facebook yesterday:

I felt like I was in that scene from "When Harry Met Sally": "I asked her where she was when Kennedy was shot and she said "Ted Kennedy was shot?""

It's super ok that I checked out my blog stats and found this out:

I am so grateful to anyone who reads, ever! Just amazed really. Thank you to everyone from all those awesome places too!! So blessed to be a part of your lives!

It's ok that I wondered if people reading in Japan were Yu Darvish fans, right??? God knows I love the guy! I love how excited he is for the season! Me too, Yu!!

-It's ok that I have two things on my brain: baseball and mountain biking!

-It's ok that I am finally starting to miss Twitter a little. It was bound to happen! I really miss talking baseball with some of the Twitter Ladies!

-It is super ok when Rachel tells me people are asking about me on Twitter. I am good. Really! This break has been amazing for me! I have accomplished very quickly what I wanted to do and it feels so good to be me!

-I found another frame app! This one has more kid-like frames but that's cool cause I know some kids! I am a kid!!

It's fun.

-I already have plans for the weekend to totally revamp my kitchen. Out with the bad!

-so the Girl Scout cookies are staying at the office...I am hoping I forget them!

-I read British Mountain Bike magazines. I forget they are in the UK right up until when they start taking Tyres. Really, that's how they spell Tires.

-it's ok that I get totally thrown off by the word Tyres every time!

-it's ok that sometimes I see pictures of myself and think...what the heck?!

-that I think I have the best dogs on earth!  When I came home to lay down with my headache last night, they both kept me company.  Sweet girls.

-that I am done trying to be perfect. I am me and I like me!

-that I may or may not have twisted Rachel's arm to go to CFA for breakfast.  Heavy on the may not, here.  She moves on Saturday so today was our last day to ride together.

-that I am finished worrying about the past and not thinking about the futures. I'm going to live for today.

-that I am a Tex-Mex addict! It's true. It's my dirty secret.

-I may love some of my friends more because they are Tex-Mex addicts too! *Hi Trish!

-that I miss margaritas...already! I really don't drink that much but when you can't that's all you want!

-that I am suddenly addicted to necklaces. Honestly I have never worn them but now I just need them!

-that my next necklace will be a bike cause I'm that kinda girl!

That's what's Ok with me...how about you?

Laura
