Blog Update: Fitness Friday (Early Edition)

It's been a long time since I have done a fitness Friday. There are a lot of reasons for that but the primary reason is because I lost my focus.

I have struggled in the past with bulimia and over the holidays I had some issues with keeping my food clean and healthy. As sometimes happens when I start to stress eat, there are more problems controlling the bulimia. Fitness isn't just physical it is mental. I have been playing a lot of head games with myself lately but that all ended this week.

This week has been difficult. I had a bad week and had to accept some sad facts. I am better now but sometimes when things happen that are beyond your control you just have to find something else to focus on.

So, I have taken a little break from Twitter. I will be back in a day or two. I just needed some space to get my focus back on where I need to be.

My focus is on mental and physical fitness and trying to accept God's will in my life. I am closer every single day. Things don't always work out the way you want them to. People you care about or love either can't or don't feel the same. That's not something you can change. If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with! In this case that means self-love.

Oh, and that college football team you have loved since birth sometimes forget to show up in a National Title game and a NFL team you hate may be trying to steal your coach. Again, beyond my control. (Darn it!).

So what I have been dealing with this week aside from all of that (like that isn't enough!) is that I have no appetite. I have to force myself to eat.

Here is my Thursday for example:

Everything but the apple I had to force myself to eat. At least I am making fairly healthy choices! Plus, I haven't been sleeping well as I mentioned in Thursday's blog.

Physically I am doing a 30 Day Cardio Challenge and 4 days in if I never see another push-up, burpee, crunch, squat, or plank again, I will be a happy girl! That isn't realistic but I did notice that Jumping Jacks which I usually hate are now a much loved break from the sets of insanity that is this challenge.

(This is after one of the workouts! It was rough! Also, I look like crap!)

Sadly the weather has been awful so the trails are soaked and not going to be open this weekend and none of my friends want to ride with me until it is warm so I am going to drop my bike off at the shop and get the pedals switched and then I am going to check out a spin class in addition to the cardio challenge because I want to keep my biker bootie! (Hehe)

So, the good news is since I have refocused this week I have lost 4 pounds...about half the weight I gained over Christmas in only 3 days! I feel stronger and more focused. I am ready to kick butt and shock my doubters. Well, nobody who really knows me doubts me, except sometimes me but that is changing. So hit me with your best shot world because there is nothing I can't handle!

Here is my inspiration! I found this photo of me at my brother's wedding in 1998. My friends say it doesn't even look like me. I was 27 in this photo.

This is me today at 42. I think I like 42 a lot better! Plus, I am not even done yet!

It's funny how my hair changes color in these photos yet I haven't touched it since June or July. (Which is pretty cool since I have no roots and you can't see where the last color job was. Awesome hair dressers are awesome!)
